Osborne Cawkwell Tuition is 20!

Categorised in: OC News | Posted on: 29 September 2020

We are celebrating a big milestone today – our 20th anniversary.

Over the next twenty working days we will be toasting our achievement by shining a light on what makes our Osborne Cawkwell Tuition tick. (Look out for and follow #20daysofOC on social media!).

Today we’ve got to begin with the Founder and Managing Director of Osborne Cawkwell Tuition, Lucy Cawkwell.

Recently described as the “grandmother of the London tutoring world”, or as we simply call her, “Dame Lucy”. Lucy Cawkwell has seen every tutoring scenario imaginable during her career to date. Initially working as a private tutor and then establishing Osborne Cawkwell Tuition in 2000, Lucy has supported our clients, tutors, students and team wisely and calmly from day one.

Described by the tutors on our books as “warm”, “fair-minded” and “totally unflappable”. And by our clients as “patient”, “highly professional” and “caring”. Lucy is consistent and steady at the helm of the great ship OC.

These personal traits are instilled in our company ethos and touch everything we do. It is testament to Lucy as a manager that we have tutors who have worked with us for almost as long as the company has been trading (thank you, Alex and Keone for the heads up and for all of your hard work!). As a team we have collectively worked with Lucy for approximately 43 years.* That might sound like ordeal in many jobs but our individual stats are very telling: Shirley has worked with Lucy for 13 years this week, Maciej 9 years tomorrow, Sarah around 8 years, me 8 years this month, and Dan 5 years in November.

* It’s been so long, Sarah can’t quite remember how long she has been working with OC for.

Osborne Cawkwell Tuition is evolving.

Through her care and attention to detail Lucy has made a name for herself working with home schooled students. We continue to develop and provide excellent support for students out of mainstream education for a wide range of reasons: illness, exclusion, learning difficulties, mental health – or simply a parent’s choice.

OC continues to work closely with the tutors on our books to provide a ever important sense of community. We are committed to offering ongoing training, mental health awareness and support for those tutoring SEND students.

In addition, we also have a number of charitable projects in the pipeline.

Stay tuned, stay in touch and I hope you will all join me in thanking Lucy for everything she does to make Osborne Cawkwell Tuition such a leading light in our industry.
