  • as experienced tutors ourselves, we know what information and support you need in order to do a good job
  • we’re the first agency to create a Tutor Community
  • we always strive to create the best relationship possible between our client, you and us
  • we are excited about you being able to make a difference to a student’s learning – and consequently, their life

Who is an Osborne Cawkwell Tutor?

We currently have around 175 tutors on our books. An Osborne Cawkwell Tutor is, on average, in their mid-thirties and has a wide range of skills encompassing interests such as sports, music, theatre and travel.

Some tutors are Masters and PhD students; others are writers, freelance journalists, charity workers, entrepreneurs or actors.

Many tutors have chosen tutoring as their career and teach full time; others combine their tutoring with part-time or full-time work.

The one thing that unites all Osborne Cawkwell Tutors is their passion for education and their desire to use their knowledge and experience to support and spur on the students they work with.

How do I become a tutor?

We recruit new tutors throughout the academic year, depending on need. We are careful to only take on tutors who we believe we can offer work to. Therefore if we feel we can’t currently offer you any private tutor jobs, we will keep your details on file.

If you would like to become a tutor for Osborne Cawkwell Tuition, our recruitment process involves:

  • An online interview with either Lucy Cawkwell or Shirley Hesry
  • A small group Induction Session at Osborne Cawkwell Tuition
  • A request for two referees, one academic and one professional
  • A DBS check through Osborne Cawkwell Tuition (unless you are on the update service or have a certificate dated within the past 12 months)

How do I apply?

To register you interest in tutoring with us please email Holly Dinsdale on apply@octuition.co.uk. Please attach your CV and state your tutoring/teaching experience and the subjects and levels you tutor currently.

[We require that applicants have the right to work in the UK and we would need to see a passport or relevant documentation to confirm this. Please note that we only consider applications from tutors who are either over 21 years old or who have completed their second year of university. We ask that tutors commit to us for at least an academic year.]
