The IB English Diploma Programme forms part of Group 1 – Studies in language and literature. This course is also available at higher and standard level. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is an assessed programme for students aged 16 to 19. Furthermore it is respected by leading universities across the globe.
The subject consists of three courses:
- Language A: literature, which introduces students to the analysis of literary texts.
- Language A: language and literature, introduces the critical study and interpretation of written and spoken texts. Texts reflect a wide range of literary and non literary genres.
- Literature and performance, which aims to explore the relationship between literature and theatre.
The courses offer a broad range of texts, enabling students to appreciate a language’s complexity, wealth and subtleties in a variety of contexts. Students also take their studies in a language in which they are academically competent.
An IB English tutor through Osborne Cawkwell will help improve a student’s approach to each text and give them the confidence to discuss themes and issues openly. A tutor can also help a student develop their writing skills and essay technique to improve grades and improve clarity of thought.
